Colombia TABLON DE GOMEZ ESPRESSO
Notes of Apple, Chocolate and Cherry
This coffee is grown by smallholder producers around the Tablon de Gomez municipality in Nariño, which is located in Southwest Colombia, bordering Ecuador. A large part of coffee produced in Nariño is grown at very high altitudes of up to 2200 masl, which combined with the area’s proximity to the equatorial line creates a very distinct microclimate allowing the coffee cherries to slowly develop and mature. This, in turn, results in a very complex and sweet cup profile.
As with most coffees from Nariño, the farms contributing to this lot are very small (typically around 2 ha each). The producers do their own harvesting – with the help of their neighbours and process the coffee at the farm using their own small wet-mills and drying patios.
This lot has everything we look for in a high-grown Colombian coffee: balanced acidity with a distinct cherry-like fruitiness with plenty of sweetness to tie it all together.
