In the hilly regions of Sabalito, Coto Brus, lies the La Chelita farm. Owned by the Fallas Picado family, it’s currently managed by Hernán Fallas and his daughter, Joselyn. With a history spanning over half a century, the farm has expanded and established its own micro mill. Featuring a coffee shop and a growing agro-tourism project, the family proudly maintains their coffee heritage.

La Chelita exports 90% of its harvest, with each lot holding special significance. Spanning fifty hectares, the farm employs around sixty-five workers during harvest. Their cultivation includes using native trees for shade and a mix of chemical and organic fertilizers. Careful manual harvesting and thorough processing ensure high-quality coffee. Social and environmental projects, such as employing local women and promoting regenerative agriculture, are key to their ethos. Despite challenges like high input costs, La Chelita aims to continually enhance its processes and share their love for coffee.
