Luz Helena Salazar

Nectarine, white grape, rosehip

For 20 years, Luz Helena has produced coffee. She’s from Armenia and owns Maracay, an 8-hectare farm at 1,450 meters above sea level in Armenia, Quindio. Luz is married to Jairo Arcila and is the mother of Carlos and Felipe. Her passion for coffee began with her husband’s work in the industry, inspiring her to learn how to grow high-quality cherries. Jairo’s knowledge was especially helpful with early challenges like insect control.

This 100% Castillo microlot undergoes the following process: cherries are harvested at peak ripeness, floated, then hand-sorted to remove defects. They then undergo 30 hours of underwater fermentation before pulping. The parchment is gently washed and dried in temperature-controlled conditions until ideal moisture content is reached.

Expect tasting notes of yellow nectarine, white grape and rosehip. This is a super sparkly cup that we have been excited about releasing since our first sample earlier this year.

*Although we make every attempt to have seasonal coffee available to order, occasionally some products are not available to ship immediately because we are in the process of hand-roasting them.*
