Elixir Espresso XXXIV Ethiopia Fikadu Lege

This coffee was produced by Fikadu Lege on his family’s farm in Adado village, Yirgacheffe and was processed at the Adado village drying station.

Fikadu is a third-generation farmer who inherited the farm from his parents. He has been growing coffee on this land for over 10 years. In addition to coffee, he cultivates bananas, false bananas, and avocados, which serve as food for his family, while coffee provides their main source of income.

For processing, the coffee cherries were hand-sorted and dried on raised African beds. Since the beds are outdoors, the weather was closely monitored. The cherries were covered at night and during rain or intense midday sun. Drying took 15 to 18 days to complete. Once dried, the cherries were hulled and sorted into different grades. This particular lot is grade 1, signifying the highest quality tier.

Elixir works wonderfully on its own as espresso, but can also serve as an excellent base for milk drinks.
